RELEASE: House Poised to Launch Evidence-Deficient Impeachment Inquiry
WASHINGTON, DC – Following House debate in advance of a vote on a resolution formalizing an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, Constitutional Accountability Center Vice President Praveen Fernandes issued the following reaction:
Despite months of hearings, House Republicans have yet to share with the American public a single shred of direct evidence of legal wrongdoing on the part of President Biden, let alone legal wrongdoing that meets the Constitution’s stringent standard of “high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” Impeachment is a powerful tool for constitutional accountability, and like all powerful tools, it must be wielded with care and responsibility. To the detriment of the American people and the government that is meant to serve in their name, today’s inquiry is both careless and irresponsible.
