On Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Constitutional Accountability Center hosted a virtual conversation entitled, “Back to the Future: Embracing the Progressive Aims of the Constitution,” featuring our inaugural Scholar-in-Residence Alexis Hoag-Fordjour, Professor and Dean’s Research Scholar at Brooklyn Law School; Wilfred Codrington, the Walter Floersheimer Professor of Constitutional Law at Cardozo School of Law; and moderated by CAC’s Vice President Praveen Fernandes. They discussed the Constitution’s progressive ideals, rooted in Reconstruction and other social movements, and how these ideals apply to contemporary constitutional interpretation.

For background, please see Professor Hoag-Fordjour’s article “Back to the Future: (Re)Constructing Ineffective Assistance of Counsel,” UC Davis Law Review, available here.

Professor Codrington is co-author of The People’s Constitution: 200 Years, 27 Amendments, and the Promise of a More Perfect Union (2021). More information can be found here.
