Caitlin Halligan

On September 29, 2010, President Obama nominated Judge Caitlin Halligan to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which CAC supported. In 2011, Senate Republicans filibustered Halligan’s nomination, preventing Halligan from receiving a yes-or-no vote on the Senate floor, where she would have been confirmed by a majority of Senators.

On January 3, 2013, President Obama renominated Halligan, and CAC again urged her confirmation. Senate Republicans continued to obstruct Halligan’s confirmation, launching a second filibuster in March 2013.

On March 22, 2013, in the face of this partisan obstruction, and at Halligan’s request, the President withdrew her nomination.
