Happy 90th Birthday, Justice Stevens!

Today is the 90th birthday of Justice John Paul Stevens, the longest-serving Justice on the current Supreme Court and a towering figure in Supreme Court history.  With Justice Stevens’ announcement two weeks ago that he will retire from the Court at the end of this Term, we at CAC (along with many others) have already shared our tributes to Justice Stevens’ 34 years of service, along with a list of his “greatest hits” on the Court since his 80th birthday.

So for now, we’ll simply wish Justice Stevens a very happy birthday, along with many more years of health and happiness in retirement.  And this summer, we hope the Nation gives him the greatest birthday gift of all: the confirmation of a worthy successor, someone one who shares Justice Stevens’ deep knowledge of, and respect for, our Constitution’s text and history.
