RELEASE: CAC Joins Broad Coalition Call For End to Qualified Immunity
WASHINGTON – As Constitutional Accountability Center joins a broad ideological coalition—including the ACLU, Cato Institute, Protect Democracy, and Institute for Justice—calling on Congress to end qualified immunity and reform government employer liability, CAC President Elizabeth Wydra issued the following statement:
“Bipartisanship” seems to be the watchword of the Senate today, and this coalition of organizations spanning the ideological spectrum, standing together calling for an end to qualified immunity and a reform of government employer liability, helps show the broad extent of common ground on these critically important issues.
To the Senate I say, “We’ve shown by example that bipartisanship is possible by the assembly of this cross-ideological consensus. Now it’s your turn. Let’s pass these much-needed reforms.”
