Here’s How TV News Is Covering the Judge Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings
The Judge Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings have already gotten off to a rather hot start, with Democrats pressing for a delay after receiving 42,000 pages of documents the night before today’s opening session.
Democrats were joined by protesters in the room, and 22 of those protestors have been arrested.
Here’s how TV news is covering the proceedings:
ABC
- Chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl, senior national correspondent Terry Moran, Supreme Court analyst Kate Shaw and contributing correspondent Devin Dwyer will provide the latest reporting and analysis for ABC News programs and ABC News Live.
- ABC News Live, the network’s 24-hour news channel, will have livestream coverage of the Kavanaugh hearing on Wednesday, September 5 and Thursday, September 6 beginning at 9:30 a.m. through the end of each day. ABC News Live is available on ABCNews.com, The Roku Channel and the ABC News OTT and mobile apps. ABC News will also have continuing coverage across its social platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Daily news show “On Location” also will feature moments from the hearing. The episode will post midday, only on Facebook Watch.
CBS
- CBS News will livestream all confirmation hearing coverage on its 24/7 live streaming news service CBSN.
CNN
- CNN will offer special comprehensive coverage of the Judge Kavanaugh confirmation hearings led by anchor Wolf Blitzer. Joining him throughout the coverage of the proceedings will be anchor John King, chief political analyst Gloria Borger, chief political correspondent Dana Bash, chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, legal analyst Joan Biskupic, and White House correspondent Abby Phillip.
- CNN congressional correspondents Phil Mattingly and Sunlen Serfaty will be live from Capitol Hill alongside CNN Supreme Court reporter Ariane De Vogue.
C-SPAN
- The Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be Live on C-SPAN3, C-SPAN.org and the C-SPAN Radio app beginning Tuesday, September 4.
Fox News
- Fox News will present special live coverage of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearings on Tuesday, Sep. 4th through Thursday, Sept. 6th.
- Beginning on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. ET through 4 p.m. ET, FNC’s chief political anchor and anchor of Special Report, Bret Baier, alongside FNC’s anchor of The Story, Martha MacCallum, will lead coverage from Washington, D.C., with Fox News @ Night and chief legal correspondent Shannon Bream reporting live from the Senate skybox.
- Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace, The Daily Briefing’s Dana Perino, senior political analyst Brit Hume and senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano will also join Baier and MacCallum in commenting on the development of the hearings.
- On Wednesday and Thursday, FNC will also provide live updates and stream testimonies throughout the day with contributions by Bream, senior political correspondent Mike Emanuel, correspondents Peter Doocy and Griff Jenkins, as well as senior producer for Capitol Hill Chad Pergram.
- Additionally, Tuesday through Friday, Sept. 7, Shannon Bream’s 11 p.m. news program will be branded as Fox News @ Night: The Kavanaugh Hearings, as the program will be dedicated to covering the hearings. Each night, Bream will interview guests from the committee alongside expert panelists who will breakdown the day’s events, with a look ahead at the expectations for the next day’s hearings.
- FOX News Radio will present live reports for all radio affiliates on the confirmation hearings. FOX News Radio White House correspondent Jon Decker, along with national correspondent Jared Halpern will lead coverage which can be heard on www.FoxNewsRadio.com and Fox News Headlines 24/7 on SiriusXM Channel 115.
MSNBC
- MSNBC will deliver special coverage of the confirmation hearings for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
- Coverage of the hearing starts at 9 a.m. ET with Brian Williams joined by Stephanie Ruhle in New York, Ari Melber live from the hearing room, and a slate of expert guests.
- Special programming continues throughout the day on MSNBC Live.
PBS
- PBS NewsHour will report extensively on the Senate hearings of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on broadcast, online and on social beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 continuing through the end of the hearings.
- PBS NewsHour will produce live, full coverage of the hearings on Tuesday (beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET), Wednesday (beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET), and Thursday (start time TBD) on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings for specific channel), anchored by managing editor Judy Woodruff, with correspondent Lisa Desjardins from the U.S. Capitol.
- Guests for the morning/daytime specials include chief Washington correspondent for The National Law Journal Marcia Coyle, Constitutional Accountability Center president Elizabeth Wydra, and former clerk for Kavanaugh Roman Martinez.
