Brown v. Board of Education: Separate is inherently unequal
May 17
Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote the unanimous opinion in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, 1954, invalidating segregated schools all over the country. Brown symbolizes the Court\'s first stand against the Jim Crow laws blessed by the court in Plessy v. Ferguson. Beginning with Brown, the Warren Court established itself as an aggressive protector of individual rights and a consistent advocate for racial equality.
